We'll start our trip on August 15 which gives us 2 weeks to plan. There are a few places that we're sure we want to visit: Niagara Falls, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone Natl. Park, Grand Tetons, Sequoia Natl. Park, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. Other than that we have no set itinerary. We'll keep our route flexable, plan as we go, take our time, see as much as we can and try to stay off the interstate highways, starting on the northern states first and return via the southern states. We plan on visiting my brother Brantley who lives in Nipomo, California. This will give us time to rest up for a few days before the return trip. We estimate a 4 to 6 week trip.
OK, we've got our itinerary now about lodging... Our best friends Barbara and Jerry have successfully convinced us to sleep on the ground... Now the last time I slept on the ground was in boy scouts, and Jenny never has. Camping is not something we do but what the heck it’ll be a great experience. Barbara and Jerry are loaning us the camping gear, Thanks so much.
We're planning on staying at KOA camp sites as much as possible. Located all across the country, they have nice tent sites with water, electricity, fire pits, picnic tables, clean bathrooms, hot showers, laundry facilities, free wifi and reasonably priced, about $35.00 per night. What more could you ask for?
I plan on updating this page daily using free wifi where I can find it, posting photos and comments of our adventures as well as keeping a running tab of the statistics and cost for those who are interested.
There is a huge list of necessities we need to bring, laptop, camera, water, snacks, charcoal, camp gear, bedding, atlas, and fingernail clippers to name a few. Oh and toothpicks .... Ahhh Toothpicks!

Our only worry was Rudy, our watch cat. We were concerned about leaving him for so long. We'd love to take him with us but he hates to ride (he thinks he's going to the vet). Our best friends Barbara and Jerry came to our rescue, as always, and said they would come over every day to feed him, scoop his poop and give him some love'n. We'll miss him. He'll be mad at us when we return but that's ok. We love him. He's a good boy.
